Games Testing Jobs
There are a few different kinds of Game testers. There are game testers for your local casino and gambling club as well as game testers for Video games which is growing in the industry as we speak. Determining which one is right for you is up to you. They are two very different Gaming Jobs that have completely different requirements.
Gaming Testing Jobs:
This particular job requires one to test gaming machines located all over the world. In many gaming a company located in your country and beyond travel is required to work as a gaming tester in this field. Their job is to go around and test the machines making sure they are up to state and federal regulations. Additional requirements are a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. You must have a four year degree to secure an entry level position. Being a gaming tester in this field can give a salary anywhere from $42-45k annually at entry level.
Video Game Testing Jobs:
Most new people to this industry think how hard can it be to be a video game tester? Well honestly very hard. You have to be able to play the video games at a very high level and with skills in programming. Video game testers must test the game on all the levels. This is difficult next to impossible for people who are just beginning players. Video game testers are hired to test the new games for bugs before they come out into the market. They are required to write descriptive reports on the bugs found and the level of severity: Categories are Showstopper, Serious level, Intermediate, and low. Each category tells them how quickly the problem must be fixed. The Showstopper category is the problems that will get people fired if released without fixing! The report must tell step by step how to get to the problem. So testers must be good enough to backtrack each of their moves to get back to it.
The general salary for Video game testers range from $30 k- $40 K per year with increase in a few years as their experience grows.
